What is New York State Statutory Disability?

This would begin on the 8th day of sickness or accident, and not to exceed of a period of 26-weeks, for 24/7 off the job site coverage.
How Does the New York State Statutory Disability Program Work?
When an eligible employee becomes unable to work, they should notify their employer as soon as possible. The employer will then provide the employee with the necessary forms to apply for New York State Statutory Disability benefits. This coverage also includes Paid Family Medical Leave.
Once the employee has completed the application forms, they should submit them to the appropriate state agency. The state agency will review the application and determine if the employee is eligible for benefits. If approved, the employee will begin receiving cash benefits to replace a portion of their lost wages during their disability period.
Paid Family Medical Leave: This is a mandatory coverage underwritten through NYSDBL. There are exceptions to this requirement. Coverage is for 12 weeks at a high weekly reimbursement limit than NYSDBL. This coverage applies to certain disability situation. We can review this coverage with you.
